Scout Sunday Update

Dr. McAlister called, and Scout's vitals are stable, which is good, and he has had no vomiting, which is great! Yay! He's eating anywhere from 25% to 75% of the food they put in front of him, which concerned her at first, until I explained to her that we practice "free feed" at our house. That is, we put out food, and the cats eat when they please, so he's not used to having to eat the food as it is put in front of him. He's also put on a few ounces, which is really good for one day. She said that he is eating a lot more than cats usually eat when they are hospitalized, which doesn't really surprise me, because I figure he is pretty hungry after not eating a whole lot all week.

They are offering him a kitty buffet that includes plain tuna, a variety of Fancy Feast, and some Science Diet a/d, which is like fast food for pets. Dr. Frank will meet with the radiologist tomorrow, and they will decide if the endoscopy is necessary, and I suspect they will, unless the radiologist agrees that it is most definitely IBD. Then they will have to start the steroids, switching him to the hypoallergenic diet, and possibly antibiodics. We're expecting Scout to be released either late tomorrow or sometime Tuesday, provided nothing serious develops.

We will hear from Dr. Frank sometime tomorrow.
