Scout Monday Update

I'm sorry that the update is so late, but I can't access the blog while I'm at work. So here is what happened today.

8:45am

They just called and said that Scout was eating 100% of his food. Yay! So he had a good night. Dr. Frank's Client Service Technician, Jennifer, was the one who called, so we didn't get to ask any questions. They still haven't decided about the endoscopy, but I figure that the radiologist probably doesn't come in to work until 9am. We did ask when Scout could come home, but she didn't know. She said they would call back with more information, but didn't know when that would happen.

NOON

The vet just called, and Scout is scheduled for an endoscopy at 1:30 this afternoon. They will also take an ultra sound of his heart, because the intern that checked on him this morning thought she heard a heart murmur. So we told them to go ahead and do the ultra sound to make sure everything was ok with his heart before he goes under anesthesia. He is still eating well, and if it continues, Dr. Frank projected that Scout can come home tomorrow. The endoscopy will take about an hour, and they will call with results.

3:15pm

The CST Jennifer just called to let us know that Scout was awake and doing good after his surgery. She didn't have any more information. Dr. Frank will call later with the test results, and, hopefully, a diagnosis.

5:00pm

Dr. Frank called, and she said that Scout's intestines showed there is definitely something going on there, either the inflammatory bowel or the lymphoma, but both are treated with steriods, so she started him on steriods this evening. She didn't get a full report from the radiologist about Scout's heart ultra sound, but he did say there was nothing that would endanger him under anesthesia. The biopsy results might come back as early as tomorrow, which will tell us if it is IBD or intestinal lymphoma.

He must be feeling better, because she said that he let out one of his infamous howls when she was checking his vitals this afternoon. I had warned her about this on Saturday afternoon, that this is an intimidation tactic, and he's just trying to embarass her in front of the other doctors. So she's decided that he's more than ready to come home to recoup, where he'll be more comfortable and not scare the interns. :)
