Sorry for the late post once again, but Scout got to come home today, and we just got home at about 6pm. We dropped Mr. Grumpy off, and went to get something to eat, as well as some things called "Pill Pockets," because Scout now has to take FOUR different meds each day. He is a notoriously bad patient, and hates taking medicine, and these are supposed to make it easier. He certainly didn't run excitedly to eat the treat as advertised, but he didn't spit out the Pill Pocket when I tossed it into his mouth.
Dr. Frank said if there is a lot of stress with the pill regimine, we can try having his meds compounded, which is when they take the meds and flavor them. Dr. Frank gave us samples of some duck and green peas flavored cat food that we are going to try and get him to eat. So far this evening, he's not real interested in anything except growling at us to remind us how pissed off he is at us. He did eat a little bit of his regular canned food that we normally give him (I mixed in a bit of the duck/peas).
The gastrointestinal biopsies are still pending and should be in tomorrow or Thursday at the latest. Then we will schedule a follow-up appointment sometime in a two to three week window. We are supposed to let them know if he has any vomiting, diarrhea, or lethargy. He is still a bit skinny, but he looks (and feels) heavier than when we took him in on Saturday morning. The meds should keep the inflammation in his intestine down, which will stimulate his appetite. Hopefully, he will take to the new diet, because if he does, then he won't have to take as many meds.
