Max's first bout of Gastritis

It just occurred to me that I never posted about Max's original diagnosis of gastritis. It was December 27 of last year, and he was nauseated and vomiting. Of course, it was a Saturday, so we had to go to the emergency vet. It was later in the afternoon, about 4:15. Again, there was no change in his behavior other than he was thowing up and couldn't seem to keep anything down.

On Christmas day he ate the cover off of a cheapy tennis ball that he got from Santa, and while we were originally unconcerned, now we were worried he had some kind of intestinal blockage. Yes, you read that right. He ate the cover off a ball. Normally, he just pulls the covers off and rips them to shreads. For some reason, he ate this one. And he seemed fine until the afternoon of the 27th.

So we schlepped him to the emergency vet, and took a blood chem and film and nothing appeared out of the ordinary in either, so they assessed him with the generic diagnosis of Gastritis. They gave him an injection of Cerenia and Pepcid and gave him some fluids (he was a tad dehydrated) and told us we could go ahead and give him Pepcid with his meals. So if you're looking in a company to invest in, I'd take the one that makes Pepcid. We have three animals taking it regularly.
