Midnight Adventures

I knew I was in for it when Katy slept through the night on Sunday/Monday. Since we are currently in a routine of sleeping through the night one day a week, taking care of that one day first thing makes the rest of the week a real pain. The adventure started at 10 pm last night, when Katy upchucked and gobbled part of her 4th and final meal of the day. I moved the dogs to the living room, where Katy started her I'm-really-nauseated bark, which resembles the really loud quacking of a really large duck. So I gave her another dose of the anti-nausea meds and another acid reducer and held her up for about ten minutes. She seemed a bit better then, and settled down on the sofa. About five minutes later she started coughing, and I surrounded her with a towel. She eventually stopped and fell asleep. So did I.

Then about 2:30 am, all hell broke loose. Katy started making her I'm-kind-of-nauseated-and-in-danger-of-spewing noise. I ordered her off the sofa and she and Max both interpreted it to mean that it was time to get up. They both ran to the door. Katy started hopping around excitedly, making her noise the whole time and Max started scratching the door. Scout took the dogs' cue to mean it was time for breakfast and started meowing and wouldn't stop. I finally got hold of Katy to hold her up and fussed at Max, who didn't really care and kept scratching at the door.

After I got Katy's constitution balanced, I grabbed the supersoaker and pumped it up. Max knows what that means--an unplanned shower is on the way if he doesn't cool it--and laid back down. All the while, Scout is still meowing for his food. I was finally able to get him some food and went back in the living room, where Katy was laying on one of her pillows and Max was pouting by the back door. I watched some TV for a while, and eventually, Katy jumped back on the sofa where she was sleeping earlier. It was the last interruption for the night.
