The Day After...

Scout seemed to have a good night; better than I did, anyway. I got up about 3:00, and Scout was still in the gaming rocker. I petted him a little and then laid down on the couch. I guess I dozed off, but I got up again about 3:45 and went in the kitchen. Scout followed me, so I gave him some wet food. He ate about 3/4 of it. I went back into the bedroom, where Katy was making her nausea noises. The other Mama had given her an anti-nausea about 3:30. I sat up with Katy, but it didn't seem to help, so I moved the dogs to the living room. I dozed off on the sofa again, and Scout came and laid on my chest, purring and giving me kisses. I think he knows how upset I am, and he was trying to make me feel better.

We decided to go in to get Scout's meds this morning, instead of later. He is on a chemotherapy drug that he gets twice a week. He is really grumpy now, since he had medicine three times today. He took a little bit of a 15 minute nap, and ate some more food. The good news (yes, there is some good news) is that he doesn't have to have the special diet, and can eat whatever he wants. I carried him into the bedroom so that he could have a quiet place to take a nap, since the living room was a bit busy with all of us in there and phones ringing and such.

We are meeting with the oncologist on Tuesday morning. We have to take Scout with us, which should be fun. The only side effects of the chemo is a possible drop in white blood cells, which is something the oncologist will monitor. We can give him the chemo at the same time as the prednisone, which is good, because we won't have to give him an extra round of meds. And Scout and PJ can still use the same litter pan.

Katy was feeling better by breakfast, but I gave her another anti-nausea and an antacid just to be on the safe side. I also gaver her just plain canned food, since the prescription diet food can upset their stomachs. She is doing better now and was anxious to eat her food. I will try the regular "combo" food probably on Sunday.
