With apologies to Judith Viorst....
Katy had a really bad night last night. She coughed often from 10-11:30, and threw up twice. After the first one, I sat with her in her kennel, holding her in my lap so she was 90 degrees for about 5 minutes. When she threw up the second time, I sent the dogs around to the living room. I watched some TV while watching Katy to see if she was all right. Around midnight she settled down on the couch, so I turned the TV off and tried to get some sleep. She continued to cough off and on, but for the most part was quieter. Then at around 3:30 this morning, all hell broke loose. Katy started to throw up and couldn't stop. Whenever she seemed to settle down, she'd start again. There were four spots on the floor and one on the sofa (got a good cover for it, thank goodness!) that I had to keep her from trying to eat, because if she did, then she'd just regurgitate it again.
This lasted about 10-15 minutes, and then it was over. I got everything cleaned up and blotted up, and the dogs settled down again. Max was really good through out this whole ordeal. He just laid in his spot he likes by the back door. I think he might have slept through some of it. He just likes being inside and doesn't care why. Anyway, Katy didn't cough the rest of the night. Christa relieved me when she got up and sent me back to bed, and I slept until about 9.
I am dead beat tired. The only good sleep I got was when I was back in the bedroom, but Christa said that Katy did good for her and didn't throw up her pill this morning. When I got up, I fed the dogs, and Katy ate her breakfast fine and so far today (knock wood) is having a good day. We will see how it translates to tonight.
