Spoke too soon

I guess I spoke too soon. Katy had a hard time settling down last night. We gave her a pepcid about 10:30, about the same time Dan Wheeler was blowing his second chance at a save, and I sat up with her for about 15 minutes. After going in her kennel, she coughed several times before settling down. She coughed again in the middle of the night, but wouldn't come out of her kennel. At 5:45, she had a coughing fit, and since it was time to get up anyway, I let Max out, too, but neither one of them would budge. I had to coax them both out with cookies. At 6:30, after discovering that the Astros won in 10, and fixing the dogs' food, I let them in the living room. Katy threw up twice, but didn't seem worse for wear. About 5 minutes later, I gave them the first half of their breakfast.

After, Katy seemed to be breathing funny, kind of heavy. She was licking her lips, but otherwise kept her mouth sealed shut. I took the dogs outside and hung out there for a couple of minutes, thinking Katy might need to chew on some grass, but she just hung out by the back door, waiting to go back inside. So we went back inside, and I sat with her until she got bored and sat on one of her pillows. At 7:20, it wasn't getting any better, so we gave her one of the anti-nausea meds we had left over from her first Saturday visit to the vet. After about 20 minutes, she was resting on the pillow and breathing a little easier. Hopefully, it will just get better as the medicine does its job.
