More Zoo Pics

Here are some more pictures from our trip to the zoo last week. There were quite a few new additions to the zoo, and I got some pictures of a couple of them:

The flamingos were nesting. I didn't realize they made their nests out of dirt.

This is a "fishing cat". He actually can hold his breath under water and catch birds that are standing in the water.

This is a Capybara. It is the world's largest rodent. It weighs about 100 pounds and is two feet high. Anacondas like to eat these.

The Lions were really photogenic. If you haven't seen the video, it's an entry or two earlier.

This is a condor showing off its wingspan, which can be up to nine feet. They are part of the vulture family.

This is a Black and White Ruffed Lemur. It is native to Madagascar.

This is a duck that was in one of the exhibits. When I talked to him, he quacked back to me. It was pretty funny.

This scorpion was pretty ticked off at the other scorpion in the exhibit. He chased the other one around their display with his pinchers open.
