Scout went back to see Dr. E on Monday. He was his usual grumpy self with the Veterinary staff. He wasn't in the exam area for more than a minute before we heard his extra-loud RRRROOOOOOWWWWLLLL!
When Dr. E came to talk to us, she said that even though his weight was down a little bit from last time, she was not concerned, because his behavior indicated that he was not feeling poorly. She also said that a gradual decrease in weight was not unusual. We told her that recently he has been very active and playful, and she was pleased to hear this.
His summary:
Scout is back today for recheck examination and repeat lab work prior to refilling his oral chlorambucil chemotherapy. You report that he is doing very well at home. On physical examination he is very feisty today. His weight is decreased slightly at 13.0 pounds, but the remainder of his examination is unremarkable. His complete blood count is completely within normal limits. On his chemistry profile he has a mile but persistent elevation in his BUN at 38 but the remainder of his chemistry profile is unremarkable. We were able to refill his oral chlorambucil today as planned. Let's plan on rechecking him again in 3 months for a recheck physical and repeat lab work.
We've been giving him half an appetite stimulant on Sundays, and that has helped his overall demeanor during the week. Since it's summer and I'm home, we're going to start giving him a second appetite stimulant on Wednesdays to see if we can get his weight back up to around 14.0 pounds. His next checkup is in September.
