Katy and I slept in the living room last night. By that I mean, Katy slept, and I watched her until I couldn't keep my eyes open any more.
This morning, she ate about half a can of her favorite food, which was good. It was nice to see her wanting to eat.
We put her favorite blue sweater on her.
We took the dogs for one last trip together to the dog park.

Back at the house, Max and Katy took a nap, and afterwards, I made them each some peanut butter water.
Katy went back to lay down. I picked her up and laid her on the sofa, with her head resting on my lap. We stayed that way for almost an hour.
Then it was time to go.
We put Max in his kennel and put Katy's leash on her. And damn it, if that stupid happy dog didn't start wagging her tail! But... she didn't pull on her leash or try to run ahead, so we knew she really wasn't feeling any better.
We got to the vet a little before 11:30. They weighed her, and we learned she had lost almost five pounds since the last time she was sick. They put a catheter in her leg and let us spend some time with her.
We gave her one last cookie.
Then the vet came in and ...
It was over.
Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers during the last two years, and especially during the last two days.
