We Survived Ike!

For the most part, it was just a matter of discomfort, as we did not get our power restored untlil 1:40 yesterday afternoon. The frustrating part was that everyone around us had power, including the people across the street and in the neighborhood behind us, and even our next door neighbor. About 10 homes were left without electricity in my neighborhood after the rest of the houses were restored Monday about 2:30pm. Needless to say, we are doing 1000% better today. The animals weathered the storm well, though Katy seemed to stress with the higher temps on Saturday afternoon and Sunday and had some breathing difficulties. She was better with the lower temps. We just lost the fence on the right side of the backyard and three-four panels of the cover of our back patio. So we are fortunate. It seems that everyone in the neighborhood is fortunate, in that the worst damage seems to be where a fallen tree pulled the gutter off about an eight foot length of their house and took the wood that it was attached to with it. There are a lot of fallen trees and broken branches, and a few shingles lying around but that is about it for our neighborhood.
