We had a rough night last night. Katy had 3 small throw-ups by 12am. The first two, at around 1, I sat in the "condo" with Katy for about 10 minutes, making her sit up. She seemed ok, so I went back to bed. She woke me up at 2 again, so I moved the dogs to the living room, so they had to go walk around outside for a few minutes while I moved the fence to the living room and picked up the water bowl. I slept the rest of the night on the sofa, and Katy slept at my feet. Max picked a spot in the middle of the floor where he could really stretch out. No more incidents for the rest of the night.
But.... Scout came up gimpy this morning on his left side. He was fine last night. In fact, he was unusually active. It happened once before about 3 or 4 months ago, and he got a cortizone shot and was fine after that. So, we have an appointment at the vet today for his leg. I am trying to keep him comfortable, as he is obviously in pain with his leg.
UPDATE 1:20 pm
Scout got to go to the vet this morning. They jokingly said that we just can't stay away. I said that I was trying to get the reserved parking spot. Anyway, Scout was not happy to be at the vet. The vet tech asked what kind of mood he was in, and I said, "His leg hurts, and he's at the vet. So he's a bit ticked off." Honestly, if you take away the part of his leg hurting, he wouldn't be any less ticked off. He hates the vet. He chased an intern away from the clinic, because she was afraid of him. In Scout's defense, the intern was afraid of Max, too, so I think she just had chosen a bad profession.
The vet techs tried to "dump" Scout out of the kennel. I warned her that he had a bad leg and I didn't think that was a good idea, as the dumping thing never works, and we end up having to pull him out, and I didn't want to aggrivate his leg injury even more. I suggested taking the lid off the carrier. The techs tried the dump anyway, and.... it didn't work. So, we ended up taking off the lid anyway. Scout grumped and growled his way through the initial examination, then settled down when the techs left.
The vet came in and Scout started growling again. Luckily, the vet isn't intimidated by that type of bullying. After much mashing, pulling, and poking, the vet determined that Scout has an inflamed left rear knee. I thought he was going to pull off Scout's leg at one point, and Scout let the vet know how he felt about that, too. Two vet techs came in after Scout started screaming to see if the vet and the vet tech in there needed help. Anyway, Scout got an anti-inflamitory shot and bed rest.
Or floor rest.
Which ever he prefers.
Boxes are good, too.
